Traning Director

HOPE Program continues to grow. Our clinical team of licensed therapists and registered associates are dedicated to helping our clients build healthy, lasting relationships by developing communication and life skills, processing difficult experiences and emotions, and fostering personal growth. We offer both long-term and short-term solution-focused interventions to assist our clients’ individual needs.

Job Overview

In this role, you will be a part of the HOPE’s Leadership team and will lead and maintain the overall clinical training program and ensure operational integrity. This position supports the highest quality of mental health services to master level and graduate students, including predoctoral & postdoctoral internships while supporting the vision of the HOPE Program to make learning a central goal.

The primary role for planning and implementing the training, service delivery, and supervisory elements of the training program to multidisciplinary team(s) and/or program(s) to align with the growth of the HOPE Program in California.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

In this role, you will:

Responsible for the HOPE Program master’s level, practicum and internship trainings

Formation and dissemination of policies and procedures to the internship and practicum programs

Coordination and correspondence with various schools, development and maintenance of accreditation by BAPIC, CAPIC, APPIC, and APA (Collaboration with Dr. Kingston)

Coordination of all seminar and group supervision related activities

Monitoring the quality of the training site and student progress in all aspects of clinical training program

Maintain BAPIC accreditation by submitting required materials to maintain active membership

Apply for CAPIC, APPIC, and APA application and maintain accreditation by submitting required materials to maintain active membership (Coordinate with Dr. Kingston)

Participate in research and writing of any necessary self-study or other reports (i.e. APPIC or APA)

Function as the lead contact person for BAPIC, CAPIC, APPIC, and APA 

Function as the lead contact person for all schools interested in sending students to the HOPE Program for training

Coordinate with site directors to identify the number of students/trainees needed to maintain steady state of operation within each site

Receive applications and conduct interviews for interested students

Participate in the BAPIC matching process

Participate in school of social work and MFT fairs 

Coordinate orientation program for incoming trainees

Coordinate didactic training schedule for the year and facilitate guest speakers 

Maintain regular communications with training sites and trainees

Write and update training program handbook as needed

Update all policies and procedures for the training program

Maintain training program records  

Develop and maintain outcomes-driven assessment to evaluate the students on a quarterly basis.  Follow-up with primary supervisors as needed to enhance the training for the students. 

Ensure proper documentation procedures with regard to contracts and evaluations for the students with the schools

Be available, as liaison, to respond throughout the academic year to any questions, concerns or problems raised by a trainee, supervisor, or program director

Take an active role in ensuring appropriate grievance procedures are followed 

Plans weekly 2-hour didactic seminars, recruit and coordinate presenters 

Create, maintain and coordinate the all-staff training calendar

Identify and implement internal training opportunities for existing staff to facilitate professional development

Collaborate and coordinate with HR to ensure that trainings are being tracked and documented with internal verification forms to demonstrate that learning targets were met

Coordinate and collaborate with CDs and Senior Clinical Directors for each site/region to identify specific training needs and ensure those needs are being met

Assume primary responsibility for the design, development, and implementation of the training program 

In coordination with HOPE supervisors, make sure advanced practicum trainees and pre-doctoral interns deliver the highest level of clinical service in compliance with professional standards of practice and ethical principles

Conduct Trainee Orientation for advanced practicum trainees and pre-doctoral interns 

Establish regular contact with advanced practicum trainees' and pre-doctoral interns' educational institutions; oversee needed resolution of any clinical, supervisory, or staff related complaints; maintain compliance with any formal feedback or evaluative data required by advanced practicum trainees and pre-doctoral interns home institutions

Meet weekly with the Director and Leadership Team to establish and implement systemic decision-making processes that facilitate staff input and communication on matters related to the HOPE Learning & Development Program

Provide leadership, direction, and support to advanced practicum trainees and pre-doctoral interns

Perform other functions/tasks delegated by the Sr. Clinical Director

Engage in crisis management; assessing, intervening, and stabilizing clients

Conduct group therapy offering a group approach to working with a variety of therapeutic issues

 

Qualifications

Licensed with Board of Psychology or Board of Behavioral Science 

Experience working with Sex Offenders, Forensic Mental Health or related field

Experience in a management, supervisor or similar role

Independent CASOMB Certification 

Completion of BBS/BOP Mandated Supervisor Certification CEUs

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Thorough knowledge of theory and application of Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment

Working knowledge of ATSA’s “Practice Standards and Guidelines”

Ability to organize and run a treatment group with adult men or women

Ability to produce accurate and complete assessments formulated from knowledge of sex offender dynamics

Ability to write effective case notes and report on data from files

Ability to organize work

Ability to work independently; but relate issues to manager appropriately

Ability to work effectively when under extreme pressure

Adhere to California Sex Offender Management Board - State Certification Requirements (CASOMB)

Adhere to board licensing standards and requirements  

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage difficult client discussions

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, and outside agencies

Ability to work independently and in a group setting

Dedication to preventing further sexual victimization and ability to address difficult issues with a challenging population

Proven track record of reliability and consistency of high performance

Strong desire to learn and grow professionally
